Weltsch Equipment – Redwood Falls, MN

Case Study on Solar Energy for Small Businesses in Minnesota

Project Overview

Weltsch Equipment Inc is a community institution in Redwood Falls, MN. The business provides a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools for customers across southern Minnesota. When they were looking for a way to reduce energy expenses and control their electricity costs, they turned to Blue Horizon Energy.

Project Results

To help Weltsch Equipment Inc achieve their renewable energy goals, we installed an expansive 80 kW solar array. The array utilized a unique cantilevered mount from AET Racking, Fronius inverters, and best-in-class American Made Solar World panels. When evaluating the site, we projected that the system would produce 101,000 kWh of electricity per year; however, in their first year of operation the Weltsch system produced over 110,000 kWh of energy. The system is on-pace to breakeven in 7 years.

“Blue Horizon Energy had given a conservative output projection of 101,000 kilowatt hours per year and the actual first year result was over 110,330 kilowatt hours. And we couldn’t be more satisfied.”
